A 26-year-old man has been rushed to hospital after he was elbowed in the head at a Port Lincoln hotel on Saturday.
Emergency services were called to the hotel at around 8.45pm following reports of a person being assaulted.
They found the 26-year-old with facial injuries and took him to hospital by ambulance in a non-life threatening condition.
Police said phone footage from a witness showed a man elbowing the victim to the head.
The suspect has been described as being of caucasian appearance with a heavy muscular build, short dark hair and wearing a black singlet with black shorts.
Police believe two men were involved in the assault and were accompanied by a third man.
A second man is described as being of caucasian appearance with a slim muscular build, black shorts and no shirt or shoes.
Police said a third man who appeared to be with the two suspects is described as having a tanned complexion with a medium build and wearing a red baseball cap, a green T-shirt and beige cargo shorts.
“A witness reported seeing the three men leave the scene in a silver Toyota, 200 Series LandCruiser with a bulbar and black rims,” a police spokesperson said, adding that they wanted to speak to the occupants of the vehicle.
Premier Peter Malinauskas said he hoped the incident would be investigated thoroughly.
“Have a few drinks and celebrate … people are allowed to loosen up and relax but they’re not allowed to consume alcohol and then make completely irrational decisions that put other people's safety in jeopardy,” he said.
“The worst form of behaviour is a violent altercation that can have really severe consequences but a king hit can kill someone.
“We’ve seen tragically, instances in the past, where one punch, one erratic decision can cost someone their life and put someone else in jail.
“It’s just not worth it.”
Meanwhile, another man was taken to hospital early on Sunday following an assault at the North Haven Surf Life Saving Club.
Police are investigating but no one has been charged at this time.
