A man driving a Jaguar seen speeding and doing burnouts in front of an unmarked police car before allegedly assaulting an officer has been arrested.

Just before 8.30pm on Tuesday, police spotted the car travelling more than 100km/h in a 60km/h zone on Oaklands Rd, Oaklands Park.

Police followed the vehicle onto Doreen St where the vehicle performed a burnout in front of the unmarked police car and sped off.

The patrol followed the Jaguar as it pulled into a nearby driveway and spoke with the driver.

Police will allege the driver, a 58-year-old Oakland Park man, refused to comply with a roadside breath test and to provide his details before attempting to kick police.

He was charged with speeding, failing to comply with direction, drink driving, refusing a breath test, disqualified driving, failing to truly answer and misuse of a motor vehicle.

He was further charged with aggravated assault against a prescribed emergency worker.

He has been bailed to appear in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court on July 31 and his vehicle was impounded for 28 days.
