The man accused of murdering a northern suburbs tradie in an alleged daylight stabbing attack on has fronted court for the first time.
On Wednesday afternoon, a 27-year-old man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, faced the Adelaide Magistrates Court charged with murdering 23-year-old Dakota ‘Koda’ Woodford on Tuesday morning.
Just before 7am on Tuesday emergency services were called to Henry St, Paralowie after reports a man had been stabbed.
Koda was rushed to the Royal Adelaide Hospital with critical injuries but died a short time later.
SA Police prosecutors in court applied for the alleged murderer’s identity to be suppressed to protect the integrity of the ongoing murder investigation.
“It’s been brought to my attention by prosecutors on behalf of investigators that a suppression order is being sought to suppress information on anything that may identify the name of the defendant, on the basis there is an ongoing investigation and there may be identification procedures that need to be performed,” Magistrate Ben Sale said.
Mr Sale said the suppression order on the man’s identity would be reviewed once police had finalised their investigations.
Friends of Koda were in court as the accused man appeared from the City Watchhouse via audio visual link.
The man made no application for bail and was remanded in custody until his next hearing in June.
The suppression order will be reviewed next month.
Mr Woodford is believed to be of Maltese background and a qualified concreter.
Police said it was not yet clear why the 27-year-old alleged attacker was at the 23-year-old’s home.
