SA Police release footage of extreme speeders

A Klemzig man who allegedly drove through a crash scene and struck a road sign, which then hit a CFS volunteer has been arrested after police successfully spiked the stolen ute he was driving.

Just before 11pm, two vehicles were stolen during a break-in at business on Main North Rd at Prospect.

The stolen utes were fitted with GPS tracking, which police used to monitor their movements.

One ute was tracked through the eastern suburbs to Crafers and Stirling where police were able to successfully spike its tyres.

The stolen ute did not stop and drove through an unrelated crash scene at the intersection of Woods Hill Rd and Stony Rise Rd, at Ashton.

Police will allege the ute struck a road sign at the crash site, which then struck a CFS volunteer.

He was not injured.

The ute came to a stop on the South Eastern Freeway near the Stirling interchange and the driver ran from the vehicle.

Patrols pursued on foot and arrested the man nearby.

The 22-year-old man was charged with serious criminal trespass, theft, driving without due care and failing to stop at the scene of a crash.

He was refused bail and will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Monday.

The other ute was found abandoned in Newbon Street, at Nailsworth.

Investigations are continuing to identify the second suspect involved in the break-in and theft.

Anyone with information that may assist the investigation can contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
