Around 1.40pm, police were called to a disturbance at Gillingham Rd and on arrival located two men and a knife.

Officers arrested a 22-year-old from Salisbury East and a 22-year-old from Windsor Gardens and charged them with carrying an offensive weapon.

Nearby, patrols were called to Underdown Rd after suspicious cars were reported in the street.

A 17-year-old Davoren Park teen and an 18-year-old Andrews Farm man were arrested and charged with carrying an offensive weapon and hindering police.

They were bailed to appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on February 3 and January 31 respectively.

The Salisbury East man was refused bail to appear in court on Friday and the other man was bailed to appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on February 3.

Police from Northern District and gang task force Operation Meld are investigating both incidents and have appealed to the public for any information.

The task force was first implemented in July 2021 and given extra resourcing in February in an attempt to tackle youth gang violence in Adelaide’s northern and western suburbs.

The operation aims to stem violence between the warring gangs of Sudanese heritage who have so far been linked by police to numerous stabbings and violent brawls.

Meanwhile, a 31-year-old L-plater had his driver’s licence suspended and his car impounded on a major Adelaide thoroughfare after blowing six times the legal blood alcohol limit on Tuesday night.

Just after 9pm, police stopped a man from Kilburn driving a blue Subaru sedan at slow speed on South Rd at Croydon Park.

A breath test allegedly produced a blood alcohol reading of 0.294 – six times the limit for a person on a full licence. L-platers are not permitted to have any alcohol in their blood.

Checks revealed the man had only a learner’s permit, which he was not carrying, and he did not have a qualified supervising driver with him.

He also failed to display ‘L’ plates and was reported for drink-driving, breaching conditions of his learner’s permit and failing to carry his licence.

His car was impounded for 28 days and the driver was issued with a 12-month loss of licence.

He will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.

CITY STABBING ENDS IN ARREST

In a separate incident, a middle-aged man was stabbed in a late-night assault in the Adelaide CBD on Wednesday.

Police allege just after 11pm, emergency services were called to North Tce after reports a 43-year-old Stirling North man sustained stab wounds to his stomach.

He was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital for treatment, however his injuries are not considered to be life-threatening.

Patrols searched the area and located the suspect nearby on Bank St.

A 41-year-old Kent Town woman was charged with aggravated assault causing harm. She was refused bail and will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court later today.

Police believe this was not a random incident and both parties are known to each other.

The incident was the sixth known stabbing attack within the last week.

On Wednesday, a 35-year-old man was treated in hospital after being stabbed in the hand at a property near The Parade in Norwood.

A 52-year-old man from a neighbouring unit was arrested nearby and charged with aggravated assault to cause harm.

On Christmas Day, 45-year-old David Andrew Eldridge allegedly stabbed his father Robert Eldridge to death at a Reynella East retirement village.

Mr Eldridge is yet to plead to the murder charges.

Hours later, a 16-year-old girl allegedly stabbed a man at Andrews Farm.

The man was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries on Monday but died on Tuesday, and the girl has now been charged with murder.
