Assault on Norwood street and Whyalla East stabbing leads to arrest

A shocking assault in an eastern suburbs street has put a man in hospital, while two were arrested after another person was stabbed at Whyalla.

Investigations are continuing after a man has been stabbed on a prestigious eastern suburbs street.

Emergency services were called to Edward St just off The Parade in Norwood, just after 9am on Wednesday after reports of an assault.

A 35-year-old Norwood man sustained injuries to his hand and was taken to Royal Adelaide Hospital in a non-life threatening condition.

A 52-year-old man from a neighbouring unit was arrested nearby and charged with aggravated assault to cause harm.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident but say the men were known to each other.

Meanwhile two men have been arrested after a man was stabbed in a Whyalla Stuart home overnight.

Police were called to a violent disturbance at a house in Wittwer St just before 11pm on Tuesday.

A 26-year-old man was found with serious injuries to his head and upper body.

He was taken to the Whyalla Hospital in a life-threatening condition but has since been declared stable.

A 47-year-old man was arrested at the scene and charged with aggravated assault to cause harm and carrying an offensive weapon.

Another man, aged 38, was also arrested for hindering police. Following investigations, he was subsequently charged with aggravated assault to cause harm as well.

Both men were refused bail and are expected to appear in the Whyalla Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

Police understand the men were known to each other.
