A “heated” brawl broke out between the Hells Angels and Finks outside a kickboxing event just four days before the shooting death of Jason De Ieso, a critical witness has told a Supreme Court jury.
The witness said the rival bikie gangs “did not get along” and their animosity led to a fight outside kickboxing event, Knees of Fury, at Adelaide Arena, Findon, on November 17, 2012.
“There was a feud going on for quite some time prior to this kickboxing event,” he said.
The witness, who was not a gang member, said he and others connected to the Hells Angels had planned to attend to support an interstate gang “prospect” scheduled to fight a friend of a Fink.
He said the group understood about 10-15 Finks members were in attendance but as they lined up outside to buy tickets, about 60-70 men linked to the Finks emerged from the arena.
“Everybody began yelling at everyone … it was a heated moment,” he said.
“They rushed at us, started swinging, it lasted about two minutes, no longer than that.”
He said police sirens rung out and “everyone stopped and scattered”.
The witness told the court he knew members of the Hells Angels North Crew after becoming friends with Musa Alzuain as a teen and had sometimes visited their club house daily.
He said he had worn the gang’s supporter wear but never became a “prospect” or member.
The witness told the jury he was drawn to the club because of its “party” culture.
“The party life, the free alcohol, free drugs, females,” he said.
“It’s very easy to get pulled in.”
The witness said he knew each of the men standing trial in the Supreme Court charged with Mr De Ieso’s murder through his regular club house visits.
The charged men are Musa Ali Alzuain, 30, of St Morris, Husain Alzuain, 35, of Goodwood, Mohamed Alzuain, 31, of Mile End, Daniel Mark Jalleh, 34, of Clovelly Park, Ross William Montgomery, 38, of Andrews Farm, Seywan Moradi, 36, of Walkley Heights, Kyle Lloyd Pryde, 34, of Adelaide and Nicholas Sianis, 36, of Beverley. Each accused has pleaded not guilty to a charge of murder.
The jury has been told Mr De Ieso was shot amid the escalating bikie feud and not the intended target of the shooting. He was gunned down at his Pooraka car repair workshop on November 21, 2012, because the men were looking for a Finks member.
The witness also said he recalled Husain Alzuain becoming the Hells Angels North Crew’s sergeant at arms because he began wearing a white leather vest emblazoned with those words.
A defence lawyer for one of the accused said the evidence of the witness would be “critical”.
The trial is continuing.
