The grandparents of a 12-year-old boy stabbed in Elizabeth last Sunday have revealed the terrifying details of their grandson’s attack.

His grandmother told 7 NEWS her grandson was attacked by a 13-year-old and a 15-year-old in broad daylight at Fremont Park, opposite Elizabeth Shopping Centre.

The woman said she had dropped her grandson off at Elizabeth pool on Sunday afternoon, right before he was found stabbed in a nearby park an hour later.

Emergency services were called to Fremont Park just before 3.30pm after reports of an assault.

Police discovered the 12-year-old boy with a stab wound to his leg before being rushed to the Women’s and Children’s Hospital.

Police arrested a 13-year-old boy and a 15-year-old boy from Elizabeth Downs, who appeared in the Adelaide Youth Court last Monday.

The victim’s grandmother told 7 NEWS on Monday night it was a two-on-one attack in broad daylight.

“He was so scared,” she said.

“He could have got that artery and he (her grandson) would have bled out and died.”

“These kids were in a gang – there’s others.

“I don’t know who they are, (he) doesn’t know who they are.

“They need to pay for what they’ve done, not get out on bail and walk the streets.”

His grandfather said, “we’re creating a whole generation of monsters”.

The 12-year-old is still recovering from his injuries after undergoing surgery and has been unable to attend school or play sport.

“He was looking forward to going to footy, but I don’t think he’ll be playing for a while,” the grandfather said.

The accused teens made off with the boy’s school bag after punching him in the face and stabbing him in the left hamstring, the court heard.

“The youth did make some admissions to police at the time to punching the victim,” a police prosecutor said.

“But then stated he walked away before hearing the victim scream and then turned around to see the co-accused holding the knife.”

The police prosecutor said the 13-year-old boy, who has been charged with assault causing harm, was on bail at the time of the incident for various “serious” charges.

“My submission is this is extremely serious offending and at the time … he was on bail for other serious offending being two counts of robbery, driving without consent, serious criminal trespass, aggravated assault and two breaches of bail,” she said.
