A “wonderful husband” and “loving father” who died in a tragic crash earlier this month will be remembered at a funeral service in Adelaide’s north on Wednesday.
Shane Robert Jenkins died when car he was driving slammed into a tree at Keyneton, east of Angaston in SA’s Barossa Valley on May 1.
The 49-year-old was on his way to see his parents and was the sole occupant of the car.
Family and friends of Mr Jenkins are set to farewell the popular man at the Smithfield & Elizabeth Chapel on Wednesday from 2pm.
In memory of Shane, his family has asked attendees to wear a flannelette shirt.
Mr Jenkins’ wife, Kimmie, took to social media to pay tribute to a man she said had “such a good heart” and a “personality that would just take over a room”.
“To my husband, best friend, soulmate and partner in crime … you were the centre of my world and when they told me you were gone my whole world collapsed,” she sad.
“I am absolutely heartbroken that I will never see you again, or hear your voice or your laugh.
“I’ll never see your silly dances and funny faces, I’ll miss how you always managed to make me laugh even when I was at my lowest.
“There was never going to be anyone else after I met you and we should have grown old together.”
Family friend Candice Ferguson set up a GoFundMe to help support the family as it deals with the fallout from the tragedy.
“We are asking the community for your help to please contribute any way you can, we need help covering some funeral costs, headstone costs, bills and some expenses that come along with an unexpected tragedy like this,” she said.
“Any way that anyone can help or contribute will be life changing for Kym and Shane’s children.”
