Shane Jenkins remembered as ‘funny bloke’ following his death at Keyneton, east of Angaston

A man killed in a crash at Barossa Valley has been identified as a a father-of-three from Adelaide.

Family and friends of Adelaide dad Shane Jenkins have left tributes following his horrific crash in the state’s north east on Wednesday.

Mr Jenkins was on his way to see his parents when the car he was driving slammed into a tree at Keyneton, east of Angaston in SA’s Barossa Valley.

Police were called to Stott Highway, about 3.50pm on Wednesday after initial reports of a car ripping in two after crashing into a tree.

The driver of the Mazda sedan – 49-year-old, Shane Jenkins from Para Hills West – was the sole occupant of the car and died at the scene.

Mr Jenkins was a father-of-three and is being remembered as “a funny bloke who loved his family and friends,” 7NEWS reported.

Major Crash investigators attended the scene and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.

The Scott Highway was closed for several hours but reopened at 11.15pm.

The man’s death is the 32nd life lost on South Australian roads so far this year.
