Eight people have lost their licence and had their pride-and-joy Holden cars seized after an investigation into lengthy burnouts after a club meet-up.
Police say a group of Holden car enthusiasts met at Regency Park to show off their cars on Saturday, April 27, with social media promotion attracting about 70 vehicles and 100 bystanders.
Police allege that at the end of the event, some attendees performed “lengthy burnouts” up the road.
Local residents reported the behaviour and police obtained footage of the driving, prompting an investigation by Road Policing Section North officers.
Eight cars were impounded with the eight drivers issued with instant losses of licence and reported for various traffic offences, including misuse of a motor vehicle.
Police say there could be more penalties to come as they continue to review the footage.
Inspector Mark Atkinson panned the dangerous driving.
“The actions of these drivers showed a clear lack of care to fellow road users and posed serious risk to bystanders,” he said.
