A tip-off has led police to a homegrown cannabis crop in Adelaide’s north.
Officers from the Northern District Criminal Investigation branch went to a property on King Rd about 12.30pm on Wednesday, after “receiving information cannabis plants were being grown hydroponically”.
On arrival, police allegedly found about 100 cannabis plants.
Electricity was being illegally diverted to the house to power the hydroponic equipment used in the cannabis crop, police say.
The crop was dismantled and a 38-year-old Parafield Gardens man was arrested at the scene.
He has been charged with cultivating a commercial quantity of cannabis plants and was bailed to appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court in March.
Shortly after, police arrested a man after seven plants were seized in a separate incident at Port Pirie South.
A 41-year-old local man was charged with cultivating cannabis, possessing a prohibited weapon and possessing drug equipment.
He was refused bail and will appear in the Port Pirie Magistrates Court today.
Further north, police have also arrested two people after the discovery of illegal and allegedly stolen items at two homes in Jamestown.
On Wednesday morning police arrested a 48-year-old Jamestown man after they found hydroponically grown cannabis plants and an explosive device in a house.
The Bomb Response Unit attended to property and deemed it safe before officers located gel blasters.
The man was charged with possessing unregistered firearms, possessing firearms, cultivating cannabis, manufacturing an explosive device and breach of bail.
He was refused bail and will appear at the Port Pirie Magistrates Court on Thursday.
A 53-year-old woman was also arrested, in the same town, for theft after stolen charity clothing was allegedly found at her home. She will appear in court at a later date.
This comes after police reported a 66-year-old man on Tuesday morning after they found two cannabis plants, a slingshot and drug paraphernalia at his residence in the same town.
Earlier this year police uncovered an underground drug bunker at Coromandel East.
The bunker was concealed with camouflage mesh over a trap door, which led to a large area allegedly filled with hydroponic equipment. Eighteen cannabis plants, half a kilogram of dried cannabis, two gel blasters, suspected cocaine and a large amount of cash were discovered at the property.
