A Colonel Light Gardens man has faced court accused of raping and indecently assaulting a teenage patient at a medical clinic.
Ying Hui Yu, 62, made his first appearance in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
He has yet to plead to one count each of rape and indecent assault, which allegedly occurred this year.
Mr Yu was arrested two days later, at which time SA Police alleged he had sexually assaulted a teenage girl during a medical examination at a clinic.
Subsequently, the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency announced it, too, had begun an investigation into the alleged incident.
“Ahpra has been notified by SA Police of serious allegations relating to a recent medical examination and is undertaking an urgent examination of the matters raised,” it said.
On Monday, a police prosecutor asked Mr Yu’s case be adjourned for 14 weeks to allow time to finalise the brief of evidence against him.
Scott Henchliffe KC, for Mr Yu, did not oppose the length of the adjournment.
Mr Yu was remanded on continuing bail to face court again in July – he did not comment outside court.
