Two men have been arrested after police uncovered a mega ‘drug bunker’ in the Adelaide Hills.
Police raided a semirural property at Coromandel East on Monday morning, discovering an elaborate underground grow house.
The bunker was concealed with camouflage mesh open a trap door, which led to a large area allegedly filled with hydroponic equipment.
Eighteen cannabis plants, half a kilogram of dried cannabis, two gel blasters, suspected cocaine and a large amount of cash were discovered at the property, police said.
Two Coromandel East men, aged 53 and 20, were arrested at the scene and charged with a number of offences – including cultivating cannabis, electricity theft, drug trafficking and money laundering.
The pair was also charged with possession of firearms without a licence under SA’s gel blaster prohibition laws, which impose the same licensing and registration conditions as for other weapons.
The two men were refused bail and will appear in Adelaide Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
