Brahma Lodge man arrested following car chase and crash in Adelaide’s north

A man is facing serious charges after allegedly leaving a trail of destruction during a wild police chase.

A man has allegedly tried to elude capture, leading police on a chase through the northern suburbs before crashing into two cars on Thursday afternoon.

Just before 4.30pm, officers saw a grey Holden sedan speeding south on Cheam St before turning right on to Cambridge St.

Checks on the registration revealed the car may have been involved in break-ins at St Agnes and Gulfview Heights over the past few months.

Police lost sight of the vehicle on Cambridge St, but found it a short time later travelling east on Angela Ave.

The car was said to drive over a verge and on to Main North Rd, where it collided with two cars.

The 28-year-old driver of the Holden attempted to flee, but was arrested nearby.

The Brahma Lodge man was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital for treatment of a medical condition.

He has been charged with numerous offences including driving in a manner dangerous, driving while disqualified, failing to stop at the scene of an accident and weapon offences.

He was refused bail and is expected to appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court today.

Police investigations are continuing.

Authorities have also confirmed the other drivers were treated for shock and minor injuries.

Meanwhile, four teenagers have been arrested for breaking into cars in the western suburbs in the early hours of Friday morning.

Just before 3am, a witness on Bayly St at Hendon reported their car alarm had activated and saw figures in the street.

Patrols attended in the area and located four youths on Davidson Ave.

Police searched the youths and located a wallet and sunglasses believed to be stolen from the vehicle.

Further inquires showed a second vehicle had been broken into on Anzac Highway at Glandore.

A 16 year-old girl from Cheltenham, a 13-year-old girl from Port Lincoln, a 16-year-old girl and a 14-year-old boy from Ferryden Park have been arrested and are being interviewed by police at the Port Adelaide Police Station.

Police suspect there may be more victims this morning and are asking residents in the area if they find their vehicle broken into to call the police assistance line on 131 444.
