Child cyclist suffers broken nose, cheekbone after bike was struck by car at Moana

A young boy remains sedated in hospital, with a broken nose and cheekbone, after the bike he was riding was allegedly struck by a car at Moana.

A child remains in hospital with serious injuries after the bike he was riding was allegedly hit by a car at Moana on Thursday night.

Just after 7.30pm, patrols and paramedics were called to Cobalt Road to find a 10-year-old boy from Moana in a critical condition.

7NEWS revealed the boy was riding out of a laneway to cross the road to his home.

It was in that moment, the Ford Hatchback aaclipped the back of his BMX bike as his sister watched on in horror.

Witness Jessica Porter said there was loud commotion on the street.

“There was a bang, crash, everyone yelling, screaming, I thought there was an argument out the front,” she said.

The boy’s father, alongside neighbours, rushed to his aid.

“They were huddling around him,” Ms Porter said.

He was taken to the Women’s and Children’s Hospital for treatment, where his family remain at his bedside.

They told 7NEWS he had CT scans to check for bleeding on his brain.

He also suffered a broken nose and cheekbone and remains sedated while doctors run more tests.

The driver of the Ford hatchback, a 25-year-old man from Moana, was not injured but was taken to hospital for routine blood tests.

He pulled over at the time of the crash and it is understood he also resides on Cobalt Road.

Major Crash Investigators have attended the scene and no charges have been laid.

It follows another serious crash a Seacliff Park on Sunday night.

A 22-year-old woman from Hackham was taken to the Flinders Medical Centre with not life-threatening injuries.

Police are investigating the collision.
