Elderly woman loses licence for alleged drink driving incident in Adelaide’s inner southwest

A 75-year-old accused drink driver and her passenger were lucky to escape serious injury after she crashed into a pole in Adelaide’s inner southwest overnight.

An alleged drink driver has lost her licence after crashing into a light pole in Adelaide’s inner southwest overnight.

Just after 9.30pm on Wednesday, police responded to the incident on Marion Rd at Plympton Park.

The driver, a 75-year-old woman from Plympton South and her passenger did not sustain any serious injuries.

The driver submitted to a breath test and returned a positive reading of 0.167 – more than three times over the legal limit.

The woman’s licence was suspended for 12 months and she has been reported for drink driving and aggravated driving without due care.

She will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.

It comes as a man allegedly crashed his car twice within one hour in the northern suburbs on Sunday.

At 10.50pm on October 30 residents on Keane Ave at Munno Para West contacted police regarding a two-car crash on the street.

The driver of a silver Toyota fled the scene shortly after the crash.

About one hour later police received a report about a single-car crash on Riggs Hill Rd at Gawler South.

On arrival, police located a silver Toyota in a ditch.

The driver, a 32-year-old Elizabeth Vale man, had crawled from the car uninjured. Investigations revealed driver and the silver Toyota were also allegedly involved in the incident at Munno Para West.

The man submitted to a breath test and recorded a positive result of 0.198 – nearly four times the legal limit.

He was reported for aggravated driving without due care and drink driving and will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
