Police arrest erratic drink driver allegedly six times over legal limit at Hove

A southern suburbs man has left a trail of destruction through Adelaide’s beach suburbs overnight after police say they nabbed him at more than six times over the legal driving limit.

A man has crashed his car at Hove and allegedly blown more than six times over the legal driving limit.

About 11:45 on Friday, police were alerted to a Nissan Pulsar sedan being driven erratically and without a wheel through Hove and North Brighton.

With sparks coming from the car, another witness contacted police reporting the same car had allegedly hit a parked car on Wattle Ave.

Patrols stopped the vehicle on Dunrobin Rd and noticed the car was missing a wheel, a rim and was being driven on the brake disc.

The driver, a 39-year-old man from Aberfoyle Park submitted to a breath test where he provided a positive result of 0.310 – more than six times the legal limit, police say.

He was reported for drink driving and aggravated driving with due care. He will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.

Earlier this month, a man was caught allegedly driving more than seven times over the legal alcohol limit in Victor Harbor.

Just after 11am on October 3, patrols stopped a Nissan Navara travelling on Victoria Street at Victor Harbor for a mobile driver test.

The driver, a 50-year-old local man, submitted to a breath test and allegedly returned a positive result of 0.351.

He was issued with a 12-month immediate loss of licence and his car was impounded for 28 days.

The man was reported for drink driving and he will appear in the Victor Harbor Magistrates Court at a later date.
