A southern suburbs man has been charged over the alleged rape of a woman on a busy train in broad daylight.

Southern District CIB detectives on Friday arrested a 21-year-old man and charged him with rape over the alleged incident on Thursday afternoon.

Police will allege the Aldinga Beach man sexually assaulted a woman about 5pm while she was travelling between Christies Downs and Park Holme on the Seaford train line.

He was refused police bail to face the Christies Beach Magistrates Court on Monday.

It comes after a teenager from the southern suburbs allegedly followed a woman leaving the Noarlunga Centre Railway Station, before sexually assaulting her and stealing personal items from her on December 17.

On December 22, Special Crimes Investigation Section detectives arrested a 19-year-old and charged him with rape and theft.
