The attack prompted Premier Peter Malinauskas to say he hoped the accused “felt the full force of the law” if found guilty.

The Rebel sport store in Rundle Mall was forced to close for the majority of Monday, after the worker was bashed allegedly by a shoplifting girl about 11.45am, and rushed to hospital.

Signs directed shoppers to a nearby Rebel store whose employees voiced their concerns to the Advertiser.

“I hope some good comes from this attack,” an employee who requested to remain anonymous said.

“Hopefully this highlights the need for heightened security. We have some but it’s not enough.”

A Rebel spokesperson said the business was “shocked and appalled” by the incident.

“As you would expect, we are treating this matter seriously and will continue to prioritise the health, safety and wellbeing of our team members and customers,” they said.

Police said they searched the area after being alerted and found the girl on nearby Grenfell Street, arresting her.

“In her possession police allegedly located cosmetics and jewellery that is suspected of having been stolen,” police said.

“She was arrested and has been charged with aggravated assault cause harm and unlawful possession.”

The young girl will next appear in the Adelaide Youth Court in April.

Two youths, 13, granted bail after alleged state-wide crime spree

Two teenagers have been granted bail – while a third was remanded in custody – after a wild state-wide crime spree in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Two 13-year-olds from Port Augusta appeared separately in the Adelaide Youth Court on Tuesday via video, where Magistrate Michael Jandy granted bail for both of them.

However, a 14-year-old will spend the next ten days behind bars after Mr Jandy ordered he be remanded in custody.

Police were first called to a business on Wanderah Rd at Port Pirie just after 4.30am on Sunday after reports three suspects were spotted breaking into a motorcycle shop and loading motorbikes into a white ute.

The white ute, believed to be a Ford Ranger stolen from a house break-in in Port Augusta at 1.15am, was then involved in a fuel theft at a Port Augusta service station just after 6am, police said.

Just after 8am on Sunday, police received reports of a white Ford Ranger seen speeding south along Port Wakefield Highway at Windsor.

Police followed the car as it approached the intersection of Waterloo Corner Rd and later spiked its tyres as it drove back onto Port Wakefield Rd.

The car continued driving but was abandoned on Bridge Rd, near Research Rd at Pooraka, where police saw three occupants flee the scene.

One of the suspects was immediately arrested and the other two were arrested after police set up cordons and brought in Police Dog Edge to help.

The 14-year-old boy will appear in the Adelaide Youth Court later in the month for his bail hearing, while the two 13-year-olds will appear on April 10 and May 8 respectively at the Port Augusta Magistrates Court.
