Five teenage boys – three aged 13 and two aged 14 – have been arrested over a wild early morning crime spree that spanned about 300km of the state.

Police were first called to a business on Wanderah Rd at Port Pirie just after 4.30am on Sunday after reports three suspects were spotted breaking into a motorcycle shop and loading motorbikes into a white ute.

The white ute, believed to be a Ford Ranger that was stolen from a house break-in in Port Augusta at 1.15am, was then involved in a fuel theft at a Port Augusta service station just after 6am, police said.

Patrols searched the area and were unable to find the ute, however officers arrested two youths in the vicinity.

A Port Augusta West boy, 13, was identified as being involved in the motorcycle shop break-in and was charged with aggravated serious criminal trespass and theft.

Another Port Augusta West boy, aged 14, was arrested and charged with hindering police.

Just after 8am on Sunday, police received reports of a white Ford Ranger seen speeding south along Port Wakefield Highway at Windsor.

Police followed the car as it approached the intersection of Waterloo Corner Rd and later spiked its tyres as it drove back onto Port Wakefield Rd.

The car continued driving but was abandoned on Bridge Rd, near Research Rd at Pooraka, where police saw three occupants flee the scene.

One of the suspects was immediately arrested and the other two were arrested after police set up cordons and brought in Police Dog Edge to help.

The Port Augusta teens, two aged 13 and the other 14, were arrested and are being interviewed by police.

Investigations are ongoing.
