SHE’S battered and bruised but St George Illawarra speedster Jessica Sergis is a step closer to playing for the Dragons against the Warriors in Sydney on Saturday after passing her first medical test in the wake of a game day concussion.
Sergis came off second best in one of the big hits of the opening round of the women’s NRL premiership last weekend, knocked out briefly in the first half of the Dragons loss to the Broncos.

The Dragons centre made a front-on tackle on Broncos winger Julia Robinson which saw her leave the field for a HIA and Robinson left with two sizeable bumps on her forehead from the clash.
“I don’t remember much for a while after it happened,’’ said the 20-year-old who was playing in her first game in months due to an ankle injury.
But the gutsy Sergis, who grabbed headlines when she scored a trifecta in her Blues debut just a year ago as a teenager, says she can’t wait to be back on the field.
“I’m pumped,’’ she said. “I have my fingers crossed.’’
While Sergis passed the first part of the concussion protocol on Monday she won’t know if she is clear to take the field until later this week.
