Stephanie Gilmore defeated by Carissa Moore in Surf Ranch Pro finals
A DISAPPOINTED Stephanie Gilmore has retained the world No.1 ranking but missed a slice of history with her second place at the the inaugural Surf Ranch Pro title in California.

A DISAPPOINTED Stephanie Gilmore has retained the world No.1 ranking but missed a slice of history with her second place at the the inaugural Surf Ranch Pro title in California.
Gilmore was beaten by her old nemesis Carissa Moore at the first artificial wave pool event on the world tour early Monday.
Moore had been a standout performer at the event since its start last week.
Moore beat Gilmore for the world tour win 17.80 to 16.70.
NEW WAVE: For 2019 world tour
“No I’m not happy with that,” Gilmore said.
“I would have liked have have won for sure.
“But I didn’t feel quite right the whole event. I never quite found the right headspace. There’s been a lot going on the last few days.”
Gilmore was the face and spokesperson for the WSL’s new policy of pay parity for all event from 2019 which was unveiled late last week.

Gilmore’s placing at the event will see her head to the second last event of the women’s world tour, the Roxy Pro France, with the world No.1 ranking.
“That’s not a bad problem to have. I’m quite comfortable with it,” Gilmore said.
The Roxy Pro is in October with the finale of the women’s world tour, the Hawaii women’s pro, from late November.
