Adelaide University and Grange Royals know how important it is to win this weekend’s Premier League hockey round.

Uni and the Royals’ men’s and women’s teams lost their opening round matches to Adelaide and North East, respectively.

Neither club, which will battle each other this Sunday, wants to head into the Easter break facing a 0-2 ledger.

A win this week will taste even sweeter with the double-header exclusively live streamed on advertiser.com.au.

The broadcast will kick off with the women’s match between Adelaide University and Grange at 12.30pm, before the men at 2pm.

Adelaide University’s women’s lost 4-2 to reigning grand finalist Adelaide last Sunday.

Vice-captain Paige Likos said her side was eager to atone for that result.

“Adelaide were a very strong team and we are quite a new team,” Likos said.

“To come out of that game with a narrow loss was disappointing but there were lots of good signs from the game.

“We are definitely coming out firing this weekend, hoping to get a win.”

Likos was keen for her team to showcase itself to a wider audience and said the broadcast would help grow the sport.

“It’s very exciting for hockey to get our sport out there with more eyes on the game and hopefully more juniors wanting to come and play,” Likos said.

“We are super pumped to be out there playing in the live streamed game.

“We always go out there and try to do our best but knowing that we’ve got a few extra set of eyes on us, it makes it that more special.”

The broadcast of this week’s games forms part of The Advertiser and Messenger’s partnership with Hockey SA to live stream more matches this season in the coming weeks.

REPLAY: SA Premier League Hockey – Forestville vs Port Adelaide (Women's)

It follows the live stream of the round one men’s and women’s double-header between Forestville and Port Adelaide last week and the 2020 men’s and women’s Premier League grand finals, won by Seacliff and Port Adelaide respectively.

Grange’s men lost to North East 3-1 last week.

Midfielder Will Abbott said the side was still getting used to a new game plan but would be better for the loss ahead of this weekend’s clash with Adelaide University.

“It was our first time trialling our new structure,” Abbott said.

“We are looking to just continue learning about ourselves as a team and making sure everyone is doing their role.

“To win this week, I think it’ll just be about keeping it simple with good ball movement and running the game out hard.

“It’d be very important to win, especially coming up against a team that we’ve beaten but also lost to a couple of times in the last few years, so we have to make sure we get a win.
