Adelaide Comets’ young guns have emerged as the knockout kings of state soccer with a hat-trick of triumphs in Football SA’s junior cup finals.
The parklands-based club was victorious in the under-13, 16 and 17 deciders at the Parks on Monday, on a day highlighted by stunning goals and late drama.

Comets recorded a commanding 3-1 success over MetroStars (under-13) and a 6-0 trouncing of Campbelltown City (under-16) to demonstrate its depth of talent.
But they were made dig deep to see off a fast-finishing Adelaide City 2-1 in the last encounter of the day and seal a league and cup double.
Arafan Kollie scored seven minutes after the break for Comets following a tense first half and Shayan Azari looked to have put the encounter to bed when he coolly converted a penalty.
But a long range screamer by player of the match Darcy Dawber dragged City back into the contest and set up a grandstand finish.
Best on ground Thomas Giannakopoulos led the way in Comets’ demolition of Campbelltown.
Lukas Ikonomopoulos and Boris Glushkov handed their team a two-goal advantage in a five-minute period before half-time.
The floodgates opened late on, as Damian Ljujic, Seungjae Um and Henry Mosely (two) found the net.
Earlier, Comets overturned a one-goal deficit to defeat MetroStars 3-1 and also add knockout glory to their league title.
The Klemzig club hit the front, when good work down the right was finished off at the back post by the impressive Freddie Mullar.
Comets squared the ledger just before the break through a brilliant long range free kick by best on ground Thorsten Cross.
The skilful playmaker produced another piece of set piece magic late on the back of Fabian Grelli’s second-half strike to complete his team’s undefeated campaign.
Adelaide City gained some revenge in a gripping under-14 decider, as it twice came from behind to see off a spirited Comets unit 4-2 in extra-time.
Dion Petropoulos’ 28th-minute penalty got the Black and Whites back on terms, following Samuel Guffogg’s opener.
Comets hit the front in the second half through Liam Parry and look to have sealed victory when goalkeeper Zac Karam brilliantly saved a late City spot kick.
But Petropoulos nodded in a rebound at the death after Karam had tipped a long range effort on to the bar to take the seesawing encounter to the additional periods.
Lucca Uhlman and Alessio Bovalina scored in the first half of extra-time to seal the silverware for City, despite the efforts of Comets’ outstanding Anthony Yuel.
The Oaken outfit also tasted success at under-15 level in a 3-1 triumph over Campbelltown City.
Fabian Talladira opened the scoring for City in the third minute, only for Oscar Grasselli to pounce on a defensive mix-up to pull the Red Devils level.
The Black and Whites regained their advantage when Nicholas Malatesta produced a sharp finish in the box and settled the contest through Juan Cruz Arrua.
City’s Luca Fabrizio was named best on ground.
Cumberland United comfortably downed Adelaide City 3-0 in the under-12 clash.
Mitchell Knight, Samuel Kulyn and Liam Kritharas were on target for the Foxes, another side to secure a league and cup double.
Captain Kritharas was also awarded player of the match honours for a polished display in midfield.
