There were no pre-match nerves for Cumberland United’s Liam Kritharas and Adelaide City’s Lorenzo Puccio.
But the budding soccer talents will have plenty of extra eyes watching them, when they line up in Football SA’s under-12 cup final at the Parks, Angle Park, on Monday (9am kick-off).
The clash will lift the curtain on a smorgasbord of action, as one of six junior knockout deciders played on the day.
All finals will also be live streamed to a global online audience on the advertiser.com.au website.
Midfielder Liam was just looking forward to getting out there to play the game he loves, after a campaign shortened due to coronavirus restrictions.
“I love paying with this team and training hard,’’ Liam said.
“We are going for the double (league and cup), so hopefully we will do well.’’
Lorezno, who plays mainly on the wing, said the team “had gone good in the league matches’’.
“We have done well and we are really excited to be a part of the day,” Lorenzo said.
“It’s going to be a great experience. The club in general has had a good year.’’
Metro Stars’ Will Donnelly was hoping his side, the only representative from the Klemzig club on the day, would demonstrate its talent against Adelaide Comets in the under-13 decider.
“We were top of the bottom half of the league, so did OK,” Will said.
“But we did well in the cup, winning the quarter-final on penalties and then beating Modbury Jets 4-0 in the semi-final.
“I love having fun with my mates, winning and improving.’’
Comets’ opponent Fabian Grelli was just relieved to be in action.
“It’s been good to be able to play and have a season,’’ Fabian said.
“Despite COVID, the season has been great.
“We’ve won all our games, so winning the league and cup would be great.’’
Jack Scicchitano was looking forward to a keen battle when he lined up for Campbelltown City against Comets in the under-16 final.
“It’s been an up and down season for us, but it was good for us to make the final of the cup,’’ Jack said.
“We didn’t make the top six in the league, but excelled in the cup.
“We were down 2-0 against the Skillaroos and won, then were down 3-2 against Cumberland in the semi and won.
“It’s not every day you get to play in a cup final.’’
Matches will be played simultaneously on two pitches with the action broadcast across two simultaneous live streams.
