Players to watch ahead of SANFL U16 Torrens University Cup grand final — South Adelaide v Glenelg

We’ve put together a list of stars to watch during Sunday’s live stream of the SANFL under-16 grand final between South Adelaide and Glenelg. See how to watch.

South Adelaide and Glenelg will battle in the SANFL’s under-16 Torrens University Cup grand final this Sunday.

The huge Anzac Day clash will be live streamed on advertiser.com.au from 11am.

See the list below.

It follows the broadcast of last weekend’s under-16 semi-finals, with South earning a grand final berth after beating North Adelaide and Glenelg proved too strong for Sturt.

The Panthers finished the season top, but the Tigers (third) will be aiming to claim an unprecedented fifth successive under-16 flag.

Both sides have plenty of talent and ahead of the live stream, we have put together a list of 10 players to watch.

BEN RIDGWAY

Glenelg

He’s the skipper of the Tigers’ under-16 side and there’s no way anyone could leave Ridgway off the list.

The rising star plays predominantly as an inside midfielder but also gives Glenelg versatility as he can be moved into the forward line or even into defence if needed.

His leadership qualities set him apart from the rest but he has starred on-field this season, averaging 23.3 possessions, 4.1 clearances and 5.3 tackles across seven matches.

ASHTON MOIR

Glenelg

Moir is the Tigers’ vice-captain and is also known for his strong leadership qualities.

The defender can also float forward if the coach requires him to lend a hand inside 50.

Moir’s strengths are with his ability to take strong marks and he has averaged 7.1 this season.

HARRY FRANCIS

Glenelg

The ruckman starred during Glenelg’s 37-point semi-final victory over Sturt, booting three majors to go with nine marks and 14 hit-outs.

Francis is the side’s deputy vice-captain and ended the minor rounds with a shopping 53 hit-outs.

He has been instrumental in helping the Tigers reach the flag decider and has also been used as a forward.

ELI REDMAN

Glenelg

Redman is a country lad, originally from Millicent and has been one of the top performers for Glenelg this season.

He plays as a midfielder/forward and ended last week’s clash with the Double Blues with 21 possessions.

Redman’s work ethic and hunt for the footy make him one to watch in the grand final.

ANDERS MCSHANE

Glenelg

McShane is originally from Penola and is also part of the Tigers potent midfield/forward line.

He’s been one of the side’s most consistent performers this season and he notched 23 disposals, four tackles along with four clearances during the semi against Sturt.

McShane has averaged 18.5 clearances, 2.8 clearances and 4.5 tackles this season.

TOM WHEATON

South Adelaide

Wheaton is an inside midfielder, originally from Strathalbyn Football Club.

He’s south’s skipper and is strong in the contest and uses the ball well, helping to drive the Panthers forward.

In last weekend’s 32-point triumph over North Adelaide, Wheaton amassed 24 disposals, 10 clearances and kicked a goal.

TOM SCHIRMER

South Adelaide

The ruckman originally from Reynella is a force to be reckoned with his ability to hand his midfielders first use of the ball at stoppages.

Schirmer can also slot into the forward line, giving the Panthers another tall option inside 50.

This season, he has averaged 26 hit-outs across seven games and has racked up a total of 20 clearances.

JACK DELEAN

South Adelaide

Delean is a powerful force inside 50 and has created havoc for many defenders this season.

He is accurate in front of the big sticks, having booted 7.2 last week and a total of 23 goals this season.

Delean is also a strong mark and good at ground level.

The young star can also play through the midfield, giving South another option at centre bounces.

NICHOLAS SCHRODER

South Adelaide

The key defender is quick and skilful.

Schroder is known for his closing speed and ability to run down opponents.

His run and carry across the backlines is also strong, giving the Panthers a good transition from defence into attack.

Schroder has averaged 3.4 defensive rebounds this season, to go with his 11 disposal average.

BENNY BARRETT

South Adelaide

Barrett is a small forward, originally from Happy Valley Football Club.

He is very speedy and has super strong evasive skills, making him difficult to tackle.

The rising star is crafty around the goals and has booted six majors from seven matches this season.
