A dominant seven-goal to zero second half has powered North Adelaide to a huge victory over Woodville-West Torrens and its second-straight in SANFLW.

Both sides entered the match on the back of patchy form to start the season and scores were tight at the main break with North holding a nine-point advantage, despite a second-quarter push by the Eagles.

But a goal inside the opening minute of the second half to Elaine Grigg signalled the Roosters’ intentions, as they slammed on seven unanswered majors to Woodville-West Torrens’ zero to run out commanding 51-point winners.

Young star midfielder Hannah Ewings was dominant for North with 18 touches and two goals, while Jess Edwards racked up 21 disposals and Brianna Arthur collected 16 and booted two majors.

It was the Roosters’ third win of the season and solidified their top-four spot early on in the campaign.

Jordann Hickey, Annie Falkenberg and Shineah Goody were among the limited highlights for the Eagles in a tough day at the office.

PREVIEW: How rising SANFLW star has set herself apart

She hails from a small town on the south-east corner of the Yorke Peninsula but Shineah Goody is having a big impact on SANFLW.

The 16-year-old Woodville-West Torrens ball magnet has racked up more disposals than any other player this season in just her second year in the league.

Goody’s Eagles will next face North Adelaide in a round five Hostplus SANFLW League clash at X Convenience Oval, Elizabeth on Saturday.

After averaging 12.5 touches per game in her debut season in 2021, a permanent move to the midfield has helped Goody raise that to a league-leading to 22.5 per game.

She also boasts and impressive 73 per cent disposal efficiency.

Goody – a member of the SANFL Under-18 Girls Academy who has also come through the Port Adelaide Next Generation Academy – put her strong form down to hard work over the summer.

“I didn’t really have a break between last year and this season,” Goody said.

“After the (SANFLW) season finished I went out and played at Henley Sharks and then I basically went straight into a pre-season on my own.

“The club still had a break but I decided to do extra training and gym sessions.”

It’s just one example of the hard-work the country player puts in, which also includes regularly making the five-hour round trip from Edithburg to Adelaide for training and games.

Goody said she could not do it without the support of her parents who share the driving load to help their daughter reach a dream of playing professional sport.

Basketball was also a passion before focusing her attention on football at Yorke Peninsula club Southern Eagles, where she played in the boys sides before committing to Woodville-West Torrens.

Goody, who will be eligible for the 2023 AFLW draft believed having to learn quickly while playing against more experienced opposition had helped in her fast-paced development towards SANFLW.

She and the Eagles will need to be at their best when they enter Saturday’s clash at Elizabeth with one win from their first four games, while North Adelaide holds a 2-2 win-loss record.
