Greater exposure for talented juniors will take the female football pathway to a new level, according to North Adelaide women’s football manager Tyson Bourke.
And KommunityTV is set to shine a light on the girls’ game like never before with SANFL Development Leagues under-14 and under-16 matches to be broadcast live for the first time.
North Adelaide will take on Norwood in a triple-header fixture – also featuring an under-15 boys clash – at Norwood Oval from 5.30pm on Friday.
All three matches between the Roosters and Redlegs will be exclusively live streamed here.
Bourke said the under-14 and under-16 development teams were a great way to kickstart the careers of the next generation of female footballers at North Adelaide.
The Roosters have developed one of the strongest women’s programs in the league, having claimed their second SANFLW flag earlier this year.
“The pathway is something that’s continuing to involve as the women’s game evolves,” Bourke said.
“We’re trying to expose them to high-quality coaching and footy, plus getting some of those girls through our programs into our SANFLW development and senior teams.
“It’s good to get them involved in the program and keep them around the club as much as we can.”
The live stream action between the Roosters and Redlegs will begin with the under-14 girls at 5.30pm, followed by the under-16s at 7.00pm and the under-15 boys at 8.30pm.
Bourke said the broadcast of the development league matches was a positive step forward.
“It’s great exposure for the girls programs and how good these players actually are,” he said.
“They probably don’t get as much exposure to the pathways as the boys up until now, so it’s good for them to experience that.”
North’s junior girls sides will be coached by a pair of SANFLW premiership players in Brianna Arthur (under-14s) and Kristi Harvey (under-16s).
