REPLAY: SOUTH ADELAIDE v TANGO (RESERVES)
PREVIEW: CONSISTENT TANGO HOPING TO TAKE NEXT STEP
Jess Paradiso’s return to the netball court two years ago has coincided with consistent finals appearances, but now the Tango skipper and her coach Jackie Blyth want to take the next step.
Third-placed Tango and fourth-ranked South Adelaide will clash in Netball SA Premier League action on Friday night with the match to be live streamed by The Advertiser.
Both the Premier League and reserves matches will be broadcast on advertiser.com.au beginning from 7pm.
Tango has been in fine form this season with six victories and just two defeats, which have come at the hands of last year’s grand finalists Contax and Matrics.
Goal attack Paradiso, who spent almost six years away from the game after giving birth to her three children before returning in 2020, said the club hoped to turn its strong run of top-four finishes into something bigger.
“We’ve made finals the past three years but haven’t quite reached the grand final,” Paradiso said.
“I would love nothing more than to play in a grand final but it’s a week-by-week thing at the minute.”
The one-time Adelaide Thunderbird said she expected South Adelaide to pose a threat on Friday night.
After eight rounds, the two sides appear locked in a five-way battle for the finals spots alongside Contax, Matrics and Oakdale.
“We’ve had some really good wins in there this year and a couple of tough games as well,” Paradiso said.
“South definitely can’t be underestimated, they always put up a good fight so we’ll be raring to go.
“We can’t take any of the games lightly because each one can be so different.”
Tango coach Jackie Blyth said the team had a plan for the season and was content with its progress so far.
“We’re sitting third at the moment and, like everyone else, our objective is to jump over the other two teams and win a premiership,” Blyth said.
“It’s really about going the next step and getting into a grand final. Once you get there anything can happen, but getting there isn’t easy.”
South Adelaide and Tango will meet in the Premier League and reserves on Friday night with both matches live streamed exclusively here from 7pm.
