It was a fantastic day of footy at Thebarton Oval as the School Sport SA knockout grand finals were played out on exclusive advertiser.com.au live stream.
Kadina Memorial School handily defeated Victor Harbor High in the Pool B open boys’ grand final, while Sacred Heart College achieved an undefeated season by defeating Henley High in the All Schools Cup grand final.
Earlier, Henley High School was ready to prove it was SA’s best footy school of 2021 in the All Schools Cup grand final on Tuesday, according to co-captain Jay Watson.
The clash against Sacred Heart College was one of two School Sport SA football deciders set to be live streamed by The Advertiser on Tuesday.
In the pool B open boys’ grand final, which was also broadcast live from Thebarton Oval on advertiser.com.au, Kadina Memorial School took on Victor Harbor High School.
That match at 10am was followed by the All Schools Cup grand final at 1pm.

“We’re all excited and thrilled to be playing in the big dance,” Watson said.
“We’ve had a successful year and now having an opportunity to win such a big game is a big motivation for us.”
Watson, who has also had a strong season for Woodville-West Torrens in the SANFL and along with co-captain Jase Burgoyne will be a chance to win the Colin Steinart Medal for best on ground, believed Henley could shut down Sacred Heart.
“I think that our best football is more than good enough, we just need to bring high intensity,” he said.
“We also need to get our hands on the ball early. They can’t do anything if they don’t have control of the ball.”
Sacred Heart coach Jon Symonds said his team was excited for the opportunity the matchup presented.
“It’s been a few years since we’ve had the chance to compete for the All Schools Cup,” he said.
“It’s not going to be hard to get the boys up for this one. We love competing in the big games so we’re very much looking forward to it.”
In the pool B grand final, country powerhouses Kadina Memorial School and Victor Harbor High School clashed for the silverware.
Victor Harbor also had a team in the open girls final against Golden Grove, something football co-ordinator Paul Loughead said was reflective of the program’s strength.
“All of the students involved in these games have been in our academy for five years and now we’re seeing the fruition of their development,” Loughead said.
Girl’s co-captain Alissa Brooke also said the occasion was huge for the school’s reputation.
“It’s really great for the school, especially the girls, because we want to show that we can do it and that we have put in the work,” Brooke said.
Victor star Jye Bottroff believed his team was ready to take on Kadina in the big dance.
“We’re very confident,” Bottroff said.
“We’re a tough group with a really good bond and we’ve all come through the footy program together – we’ve got a really strong connection.”
Kadina Memorial School would be tough opponents for Victor though, with the side boasting a lot of depth.
Kadina football chief Shane Moss expected a tough challenge.
“We expect Victor to be strong as we know the standard of football that is played in that area,” Moss said.
“We’re up to it though. We have a good mix of Year 12s, 11s and 10s and despite them coming from a number of different clubs they’ve all gelled really well.”
The Pool B Grand Final was set for 10am Tuesday, while the All Schools Cup Grand Final was live stream from 1pm.
