Adelaide United coach Marco Kurz met chairman Piet van der Pol in a bid to discuss long-term plans for the Reds

Adelaide United coach Marco Kurz has met with club chairman Piet van der Pol to discuss the coach’s future as uncertainty continues to plague the Reds.

Adelaide United coach Marco Kurz met chairman Piet van der Pol at a secret location on Monday afternoon.

Van der Pol made contact with Kurz last Thursday after the German revealed via a press conference that he had no contact with the chairman since he put in a call on February 21 to finalise meetings.

The pair were on Monday expected to discuss Kurz and his coaching team’s future at the Reds beyond their two-year contracts, which all expire in June.

Kurz led Adelaide to a runner up FFA Cup medal and fifth place in his debut season.

This season the German tasted success beating Sydney FC 2-1 in the FFA Cup final and he is now poised to lead the Reds to another top six finals berth.

Adelaide is sitting sixth with 31 points, five points above seventh placed Newcastle Jets with 15 points up for grabs before the finals series kicks off.

Kurz and his assistants Filip Tapalovic and Frank Juric arrived in Adelaide in June 2017 joining an another Reds assistant Jacobo Ramallo.

Ramallo was part of Guillermo Amor’s coaching team for the 2016/17 season.

The Spaniard was not replaced when he left the club in August to take up a role with the Delhi Dynamos in the Indian Super League.

Van der Pol declined to comment.
