Adelaide United coach Marco Kurz confirmed he has meeting with chairman Piet van der Pol next week to discuss his future after the Reds crashed to what he described as a very good Perth Glory on Friday.

Kurz said van der Pol had made contact via text on Thursday afternoon after the German earlier that day revealed no contact had been made for a promised meeting over whether his two-year contract would be extended since February 21.

“After the press conference yesterday he sent me a message, text message,’’ Kurz said.

“I will meet him next week.”

Kurz refused to blame Adelaide’s 2-0 loss to off-field drama, including the delayed meeting and the side’s forced shift from its Playford training centre because of the state of the surface.

United was on Wednesday forced to shift from its home base at Elizabeth because of the poor state of the pitches.

Kurz’s men trained at Adelaide City Park, Oakden on Wednesday and at Hindmarsh on Thursday but the German says he still doesn’t know where the Reds will have its sessions next week.

“I don’t know, it’s a job now for the club to find a good pitch for us so we can train good and prepare the team as good as we need,’’ he said.

“I will see, the boys have two days off and then we will start Monday or Tuesday.”

Kurz also said putting pressure on Dutch striker Jordy Thomassen for not getting on the scoresheet in his five matches since he joined the club with United scoring just twice since he was introduced into the first 11 is grossly unfair.

“You must be fair to the boy.’’ Kurz said.

“He is not a marquee striker, he’s a young boy that means we have to improve him, he comes from the second division from the Netherlands.

“He is not this kind of quality striker like Baba Diawara in the past or Andy Keogh (Perth Glory striker).”

Two errors from the Reds in transition allowed Glory two grateful goals

The first was a wasteful long ball from keeper Paul Izzo which led to a weird opening goal when Ivan Franjic intercepted the pass.

To compound the Reds’ misery, Diego Castro had a very poor shot which was heading for a goal kick before it ricocheted off the legs of Scott Galloway and into the back of the net in the first half.

Skipper Isaias’ slow pass to Michael Marrone was a gift Andy Keogh couldn’t knock back when he raced towards goal after stealing the leather to hand Glory a 2-0 lead in the second half.

“It’s clear that we missed a couple of key players, quality players for us,’’ Kurz said.

“We saw the team not play with the same confidence like before and now you must fight back, the good thing is we stay in a good position, we know that we need points.

“Now it’s not easy for us.”

“Perth was the better team for the 90 minutes.”
