RICHMOND star Dustin Martin is a near unbackable favourite to win this year’s Brownlow Medal.
Martin has had an outstanding season and is the hot favourite to win the award after Geelong star and last year’s winner Patrick Dangerfield was ruled ineligible. He could even break the all-time Brownlow votes record.
Dangerfield was suspended by the AFL match review panel for Round 20 after a tackle on Carlton’s Matthew Kreuzer was adjudicated as rough conduct after the ruckman was concussed.

Martin has played every game this season in what has been the best of his career and helped lead the Tigers to a top-four finish.
He ended the home-and-away season averaging 30.3 disposals (ranked third in the league), 6.6 clearances (ranked third), 3.6 centre clearances (ranked first), 6.2 inside-50s (ranked first) and has booted 32 goals.

Hawthorn’s Tom Mitchell is the second-favourite to win the Medal but is an $9 chance with TAB — behind Martin at $1.05.
Mitchell has had a remarkable first season with the Hawks since joining from the Swans at the end of last year.
He has played every game this year and is ranked No.1 in the AFL for disposals per game with 35.8.
It is not yet known whether Dangerfield will present the award to the winner given he is ineligible to win this year.
