PATRICK Dangerfield and Dustin Martin have stormed clear in Champion Data’s Brownlow Medal predictor — but who is in pole position?
And which player is leading the count at your club with six rounds remaining?
Dangerfield and Martin have both rocketed past 20 votes in just 16 games, but to find out who is leading, tune into #TheDrill podcast below.
Melbourne’s Clayton Oliver has charged into third position in just his second season, while star Hawthorn recruit Tom Mitchell has also shot up the leaderboard.
The Herald Sun’s Sam Landsberger and Champion Data AFL analyst Daniel Hoyne reveal the full leaderboard in this week’s episode of #TheDrill.
Hoyne explains that a data scientist assigns votes after every match, factoring in a wealth of statistical data based on the numbers that historically correlate to Brownlow votes, and adding a weighting to players based on their actual voting history with umpires.
The method accurately predicted Dangerfield would win last year’s medal.
Also on this week’s podcast, Landsberger and Hoyne reveal…
- “The ‘P’ Rule” which has defined St Kilda’s season
— Reveal the game plan change which has made Essendon a premiership threat
— Clock the distance Jayden Hunt and Lance Franklin’s goals travelled and reveal who owns the longest set-shot goal of recent years
— Name the AFL’s best and worst field kicks (unpleasant listening for one Tiger and one Brownlow medallist)
— And examine the impact Melbourne’s injuries have had on its engine room
