The incident happened at a block of units on Brooklyn Tce about 1am Thursday.

The Pennington woman was treated at the scene, before being rushed to the Royal Adelaide Hospital where she died in hospital on Thursday morning.

The two women were known to each other.

Betty Dodson, 90, lives next door to the unit where the stabbing happened and said she has been scared by noises coming from the AnglicareSA owned property.

“There are about half a dozen people living there with mattresses out the back.

“It’s only meant to be a one-bedroom unit,” Ms Dodson said. “I can hear noises at night and I say, ‘Oh go away, go away’.

“I’m too scared to go outside.

“It’s very, very scary. My family has been calling me asking if I’m all right.”

Ms Dodson’s carer Sue McGuire, 65, said it was a frightening situation for Ms Dodson.

“In most cases there are eight to 10 people there and that frightens her,” Ms McGuire said.

“Think of it as if your mother or grandmother was in the same position. It’s scary stuff for her.”

Mohammad Jafari, who lives opposite the Kilburn units where the incident occurred, said he had never witnessed any disturbances there before.

“It’s very alarming, especially considering the neighbourhood which is a very calm and peaceful neighbourhood,” Mr Jafari said.

“We’re hoping for the sake of the neighbourhood that this is a once off.”

Mr Jafari, who has lived in the area for eight years, said that those who lived in the units were a tight-knit community.

“I thought everyone knew each other well and things are OK; I’ve never heard anything.”

AnglicareSA owns the complex, which is for residents aged over 55. A spokeswoman for the agency said they had been advised of the incident.

“AnglicareSA is working with SAPOL regarding this incident which is currently under police investigation. We will be providing support to any residents who have been impacted,” she said.

In an unrelated overnight incident on Thursday, a man was seriously hurt after he was robbed and stabbed in a terrifying group attack at Noarlunga Centre.

The man was walking on Community Drive, near the Colonnades Shopping Centre, about 11pm Wednesday when he was approached by a group of seven men who demanded his belongings.

The victim was pushed to the ground before being stabbed in the back.

He managed to make his way to a nearby service station, where police were contacted, and he was rushed to the Flinders Medical Centre for treatment of serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

Police are still searching for the group of men, who are described as being aged between 19 and 22, with six being of caucasian appearance, and the other of Asian or Islander appearance.

There have been a spate of stabbings in Adelaide in the last week, including a roadside stabbing at Kilburn last Wednesday, where a man was approached by four men and stabbed in the early hours on Northcote St.

The men left the area in a white Holden Commodore while the victim was taken to hospital with non life threatening injuries.

The suspects remain on the run.

A woman was arrested on Tuesday evening following another stabbing at Payneham South.

A Pooraka man, 47, was stabbed before he was taken to hospital for treatment and a woman at the property was arrested and charged with aggravated causing harm.

Another man was stabbed at Salisbury North last Thursday.
