A man is in hospital after a terrifying roadside stabbing at Kilburn.

Two men were walking along Northcote St about 12.20am Wednesday when a white Holden Commodore stopped near them, and four men got out.

An altercation broke out and one of the men stabbed the victim in the legs with a knife before the group of four got back in the car and drove away.

The victim was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital for treatment of serious but non-life threatening injuries.

The offenders are described as being of African appearance and police say the incident was not random.

In other overnight police news, two people have been arrested after a driver allegedly crashed into a patrol car in a failed bid to evade police at Findon.

Patrols noticed a Hyundai sedan with stolen number plates parked in the carpark of a unit complex on Noblet St about 2.30am Wednesday.

Police removed the plates and left the area for a short time, and when they returned noticed a man and woman were seated in the sedan.

The patrol vehicle approached the car but the car drove at it crashing into the front driver’s side.

The driver tried to drive away but the sedan was wedged between the police car and another parked car.

The wheels of the car continued to spin as the patrol got out of the car and capsicum sprayed the driver.

The Adelaide man, 29, was arrested and charged with driving in a dangerous manner, unlawful possession of stolen number plates, driving disqualified and resisting arrest.

He was further charged with carrying an offensive weapon after a search of the car uncovered a machete in the centre console.

The driver did not apply for bail and was expected to appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

The passenger, an Adelaide woman, 24, was arrested for historical offence and was bailed to appear in court at a later date.

No police officers were injured in this incident.

Police are still hunting the four males involved in the Kilburn stabbing and are urging anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
