A Huntfield Heights woman has been granted bail after neighbours reported she was blaring music in the early hours of the morning in her rodent infested home, a court has heard.
The woman, 36, appeared in the Christies Beach Magistrate Court on Wednesday morning after police were called to Troutbeck Crescent today, at 4.45am.
“Police have attended this lady’s premises 19 times in the last month,” Magistrate Derek Sprod said.
“She is causing the police issues and I am not prepared to put up with it.
“Police have better things to do than go to (the woman’s) house because she is playing loud music.”
The court heard the woman – who has been diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder, a psychiatric illness – plays excessively loud music to manage some of her symptoms.
The court heard there were also concerns the accused has not been taking the correct medication to deal with her disorder.
The woman was this morning charged with breaching the Environmental Protection Act and had her stereo and music equipment seized.
She is also before the court for a number of other matters including stating false details, two other breaches of Enviromental protection act and theft.
Vageli Dimou, for the accused, said the client was seeking a new housing trust home.
“She is a seriously ill woman,” he said.
“She is awaiting to be moved from that housing trust property. It has significant damage, as well as a rodent infestation and she is on a waitlist to be moved.
“The sound system has been taken away and she won’t be able to play loud music when she returns home.”
Mr Sprod granted bail for the sum of $500.
She will return to the court later this month.
