A man has died in a rollover at Kielpa on the Eyre Peninsula on Wednesday night.

A passing motorist noticed the single vehicle crash on Balumbah Kinnard Road, Kielpa, west of Cleve, about 9pm on Wednesday alerting emergency services.

Local police, paramedics, CFS and SES crews rushed to the scene, but there was nothing they could do to save the driver, a 42-year-old Wallaroo man.

The man was the sole occupant of the Toyota station wagon and was found dead at the scene.

Major Crash investigators attended the scene overnight and are investigating the circumstances of the fatal crash.

The man‘s death is the 83rd life lost on South Australian roads so far this year. The road toll at the same time last year was 71.

Meanwhile, a woman has died – and charges against a man are expected to be upgraded – 10 days after a crash near the Adelaide Hills.

About 6pm on Sunday October 17, emergency services were called to Eden Valley Road at Mount Pleasant following reports of a three-car crash involving a Holden SUV, a Holden ute and a Nissan four-wheel-drive.

The driver of the SUV, a 55-year-old Angaston man, was uninjured but his passenger, a 59-year-old woman also from Angaston, suffered life-threatening injuries and was flown to the Royal Adelaide Hospital for treatment.

Sadly, she died on Wednesday.

The driver and passenger of the ute, a 72-year-old man and 58-year-old woman from Nuriootpa, were left with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the four-wheel-drive, a 28-year-old Mount Pleasant man, fled the scene before police arrived but was arrested a short time later in a nearby paddock.

He was taken to the Lyell McEwin Hospital for treatment of minor injuries, before he was charged with causing harm by dangerous driving, failing to stop at an accident, an hindering and resisting police.

The charges are expected to be upgraded following the death of the woman.

He was granted police bail and will appear in the Tanunda Magistrates Court in December.

The incident happened 30 minutes after a separate fatal crash at suburban Birkenhead.

Emergency services were called to the corner of Semaphore Rd and Fletcher Rd following reports of a two-car crash involving a Toyota Corolla and Holden Commodore.

The driver of the Toyota, a Largs Bay woman, 80, died at the scene and her passenger, a young girl, was taken to the Women’s and Children’s Hospital with minor injuries.
