Witnesses alert police to shots fired in Salisbury street

Police are investigating after shocked residents heard multiple shots on a northern suburbs road on Monday night – just days after another street in the area was shaken by gunfire.

The Advertiser/7NEWS Adelaide: Shooting at Salisbury, Gaza supplies running out

Residents on a busy northern suburbs street reportedly heard several gun shots being fired on Monday night, with police now searching for the suspected shooters.

Police were called to Spains Rd, Salisbury Downs about 9.50pm, after witnesses heard multiple gun shots.

Three shots had allegedly been fired at a property, hitting the fence, though police said the home’s occupants were not injured.

A witness later reported to police that a small dark-coloured hatchback was seen heading towards Salisbury Highway.

Crime Scene Investigators went to the scene on Monday night as police continue investigating the incident, which they believe is not random.

A nearby Spains Rd resident said she was watching television with her brother when she heard two loud bangs.

“I felt a bit uneasy last night (before it happened) so I asked my brother to come stay,” she said.

“I heard really loud bangs and turned to my brother saying it sounded like gun shots.”

The 29-year-old said the house that was shot at “is a bit suspicious”.

“I’ve only lived here for about a year… (but) it’s a bit questionable.”

The nearby neighbour said it was only this morning that she found out what had really happened.

“I was really shocked,” she said.

The woman said the area is prone to issues with many young children running a muck at night.

“I never go out by myself,” she said.

The two shots were fired into the side gate of the property which has a secure and high fence around its perimeter.

The residents at the house, on the corner of Spains Rd and Eliza St, declined to speak to The Advertiser about the circumstances of the shooting.

Police are urging anyone who saw suspicious activity in the street or has any other information that may assist the investigation to anonymously contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

In another unrelated incident, residents were woken by a series of shots fired on early Friday morning, with police still hunting for the suspected shooter.

Police said a resident living on Alfred Rd, Virginia, had seen a 4WD, which looked like a dual cab utility, lingering about 2.30am.
