Wild pursuit through most of Adelaide (7NEWS)

Two men have been arrested after allegedly leading police on a lengthy pursuit across more than 40 main roads at extreme speeds in a stolen luxury car in Adelaide.

The alarm was raised at a home on Rectory Walk at Springfield about 11.30pm Tuesday when suspects broke into a home and stole a black BMW sedan.

The owner of the home, Simon Freezer, told 7 News he confronted the thieves.

“I just said get out of here, you know, bugger off basically, and they did,” Mr Freezer told 7 News.

“I just didn’t realise they had my keys.”

Police later found the car travelling on South Rd at Clovelly Park.

The police helicopter was deployed to track the car from above as it travelled across all four police districts in the city for over an hour, with patrols spiking the vehicle multiple times.

The driver and passenger eventually abandoned the car at Goodwood Rd, Millswood, after the car lost a tyre.

Two suspects ran from the vehicle but were nabbed in the front yard of a home on Arundel Ave.

The driver, who was unlicensed, a Grange man, 22, was charged with aggravated serious criminal trespass, illegal use, and driving in a dangerous manner to escape pursuit.

His passenger, a Parafield Gardens man, 21, was charged with aggravated serious criminal trespass, illegal use, theft and other offences.

Both did not apply for bail and will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

Mr Freezer said a witness told him his car was travelling at 180km/h during the chase.

“They didn’t stop when the tyres got spiked so they clearly weren’t stopping for anything,” he said.

“The fact that no one was hurt or worse is fortunate.”

It follows a spate of luxury cars suspected of being stolen before being torched across the state in recent weeks, including one that was reported alight at Plympton on June 11.

Another BMW station wagon was also set alight on May St at Woodville in the days before.
