A northern suburbs commuter has taken to social media to share the exchange that blew him away.

On Monday, Facebook user Markus Markus posted a photo to a northern suburbs community forum of a tradie in uniform in just his socks after giving a homeless man on the train the boots off his feet.

“There are some great people still in this world,” Mr Markus wrote.

“This lad was obviously on his way to work and what happened next blew me away. He saw the homeless man with no shoes (I didn’t even notice) he proceeded to ask him his shoe size and took his shoes off to give him.”

Mr Markus later commented that he had seen the tradie on the train again following the interaction and overheard the tradie offer the homeless man pizza.

The post received more than 2,500 likes and 250 comments in less than 24 hours with many users quick to commend the generous act.

Davo Dinkum Fairdinkum commented the interaction was a “moment of true compassion.”

“What I love the most about this, is he did it without the need to film and exploit the homeless man. Just a humble honest gesture of a human being shedding love,” Mr Dinkum said.

Kylie Roberts wrote that the post “keeps me believing in the good in this world.”

“What a way to start the week. Thankyou for sharing and well done to this young man you make this world a better place,” Ms Roberts said.

Mandy Rimmer commented that “Not all heroes wear capes … sometimes they are just blokes in fluoro!”

Some users even commented the acts of kindness they had previously witnessed, including Sandra McMillan.

“I was at my local shopping centre the other day and there was someone collecting money for a charity (can’t remember which one) when two young lads in there early teens and school uniforms on stopped, chatted to the guy, then one handed over a $20 note, shook the man’s hand and walked off,” Ms McMillan wrote.
