There’s been wild, windy weather since we stepped into spring, but South Australia will finally heat up this week with a mild weekend to come.
The first week of spring brought us heavy rain and damaging 100km/h winds.
But Adelaide can expect maximum temperatures of 28C by Thursday with mostly sunny skies.
A Bureau of Meteorology spokesman said “we can expect … warming up through the working week”.
“A week of fine weather coming up, or dry weather, I should say,” he said.
Monday is set for a mostly sunny 22C with winds forecast to pick up slightly on Tuesday with a sunny 24C forecast. Winds will hold steady on Wednesday, but Adelaide will be treated to a maximum temperature of 26C.
While Adelaide is set to reach almost 30C by midweek, the weekend temperatures are forecast to fall with Saturday and Sunday’s maximum reaching 25C.
Port Pirie and surrounding areas will enjoy the warmest temperatures, climbing from mid-20C to 33C on Saturday.
Adelaide CBD and surrounds will rise to 28C on Thursday, while the lowest temperature for the south of the state will land on 23C for Robe and surrounding areas on Thursday.
It comes after drenching rain hit South Australia last week, with a total of 13.4mm of rainfall recorded in the city, with heavier falls to the southeast, including 32mm at Willunga.
It was a washout for the Royal Adelaide Show, with a number of nearby carparks being forced to close due to being muddy on Thursday.
This was followed by damaging winds that arrived on Thursday night and early into Friday morning, which left hundreds of residents without power.
