A person has died after being struck by a train at Cheltenham Railway Station.

Police and paramedics were called to the station, northwest of the CBD, just after 12.45pm following several triple-0 calls.

Train services were temporarily down between Woodville and Outer Harbor but are back online as of 3.15pm, according to a spokeswoman for the Department of Infrastructure and Transport.

Trains from Woodville to the CBD were not impacted.

A police spokeswoman said officers remain at the scene.

It is the fifth reported death by train in South Australia this year, following a September incident at Broadmeadows Railway Station that claimed the life of a 55-year-old Davoren Park man.
