South Australian Liberal MLC Laura Henderson announces she is pregnant

Elected to the Legislative Council at age 25, South Australia’s youngest serving MLC has made a major announcement together with her husband.

State Liberal MLC Laura Henderson has announced she, together with her husband Cameron,

are expecting their first child.

“Cameron and I are blessed to share that our little family is growing, as we prepare to welcome our first child,” Ms Henderson told The Advertiser.

“This is a very exciting time for our family.

“Our little love has a very excited village awaiting their arrival.”

The couple made the announcement on social media Friday morning, with “Baby Henderson” expected to arrive in May 2025.

The post was immediately met with comments congratulating the couple on their new family addition.

It is understood Ms Henderson will be the first Member of the Legislative Council to access the Parliament’s new maternity leave provision.

“I will have discussions with the Clerk on what that will ultimately look like as I approach my due date,” she said.

“I remain committed to serving my community as we enter this exciting new chapter.”

Ms Henderson was elected to the Legislative Council on March 2022 under her maiden name Curran.
