A popular Nairne bakery will close on Christmas Eve, after failing to get their lease renewed.
Rise Artisan Bakery has been a staple of Nairne’s main street since 2019, but will shut up shop after their landlords decided not to extend their lease.
The bakery is located in a rustic former schoolhouse and church, and is owned by Katharine and James Katsarelias, who also operate the popular Uraidla Bakery.
In a post to Facebook, Rise Artisan Bakery thanked patrons for their support.
“We are feeling so grateful to have been a part of this amazing community,” they wrote.
“For the last five years, our family have put our hearts and souls into this building, and growing our small business.”
“We are so sad to end the story here as we would have loved to continue on.”
“But unfortunately that decision isn’t in our hands.”
The bakery will close its doors on December 24.
The sad news comes after The Advertiser revealed that less than a fortnight after going into liquidation, Heidelberg Cakes in Stepney is back in business, promising to fulfil all previous orders.
