Five teenagers, some as young as 12, have been arrested after allegedly stealing a taxi and crashing it into a tree in Adelaide’s north in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Shortly after 4am, police were called to Petherton Rd at Andrews Farm to reports of a vehicle accident.
Officers reviewed CCTV footage of the crash and saw five youths running from the scene.
Inquiries revealed the white Toyota Camry taxi had been stolen from a Blair Athol address earlier on Tuesday morning.
Northern District patrols set up cordons and police dog Jax and his handler were called in to help with the search, sniffing out the suspects nearby.
A 12-year-old girl from Trinity Gardens, a 12-year-old boy from Greenacres, a 13-year-old girl from Brompton, a 14-year-old girl from Andrews Farm and a 15-year-old girl from Salisbury were charged with illegal use of a motor vehicle.
