Police release CCTV footage of an SUV allegedly involved in a serious crash at Holden Hill

The victim of a hit and run crash at Holden Hill remains in a critical condition as police appeal to the public to track down a driver allegedly involved in the horrifying incident.

Just before 4.15am on Tuesday, emergency services responded to a collision between a dark-coloured SUV and a pedestrian on Sudholz Rd.

The pedestrian, a 25-year-old man from Mitchell Park was treated at the scene before he was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.

The driver of the vehicle failed to stop.

Major crash investigators visited the scene and examined shattered debris scattered across the road. Lying among the debris was a watch.

Witness Gurdeep Singh was travelling closely behind the suspect.

“I noticed an SUV had rolled over something, so I thought it was rubbish or something,” he told 7NEWS.

“When I got closer, I saw a guy was lying on the road.”

Mr Singh pulled over and rushed to the victim’s aid.

“That car was just in front of me, so I thought he would also come out and try to help, but when I got out, he just took a U-turn and ran away,” Mr Singh said.

The victim was treated by paramedics before he was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.

“He had a big cut on his eye and his teeth were out, he was bleeding from the mouth … I asked him if he was all right, he said no,” Mr Singh said.

Police condemned the driver’s actions: “That person was left there and we will make every effort to find the driver of that vehicle,” Deputy Commissioner Linda Williams said.

“It’s appalling that you could leave a person on the road in such a condition then just drive off. It’s so reckless and so indifferent to that persons safety.”
