Paolo Sebastian founder Paul Vasileff has paid a touching tribute to his beloved Nonna, Domenica Imbesi, has passed away at age 95.
The internationally renowned designer took to Instagram to honour his “first teacher and muse”.
Titled “In loving memory of Domenica Imbesi”, the post was shared with his close to 1m followers on Instagram.
It included a video of her saying of his success: “I am very proud, very happy”.
Earlier this year, Paolo Sebastian released a collection – dedicated to and inspired by her – called Allora Domenica.
The 16-piece range celebrated Nonna Domenica turning 95 on March 9.
It was launched in February at Bird in Hand winery before the who’s who of fashion, including influencers Olivia Molly Rogers and Kellie Finlayson and stylist-turned-shoe designer Lana Wilkinson.
While Vasileff’s close family was also there, his Nonna Domenica was unable to attend.
However, Vasileff made sure his favourite VIP had the exclusive first look.
Prior to the event, he made a special visit to Nonna Domenica, who wore the Paolo Sebastian dress she wore on his wedding day for the occasion.
Vasileff’s designs have been donned by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese’s fiancee Jodie Haydon and international celebrities such as Kim Kardashian and Katy Perry.
He also created the fairytale bridal gown Brittany Higgins wore when she wed David Sharaz at The Valley Estate in the Currumbin Valley on the Gold Coast.
