Soul sisters Kellie Finlayson and Olivia Molly Rogers celebrated their special bond at Paolo Sebastian’s stylish soiree to launch its latest collection, Allora Domenica.
The invitation only VIP event at Bird in Hand winery on Thursday night was attended by the who’s who of fashion, with other guests including influencersAshleigh Huynh and Mishti Rahman and stylist-turned-shoe designer Lana Wilkinson.
Pictures posted on social media showed the close friendship between Finlayson, who has stage four bowel cancer and is committed to raising awareness about the disease and the need for early detection, and Rogers.
They were both dressed by Paolo Sebastian for the occasion.
Finlayson, who is an Advertiser columnist, only needed one word to describe how she was feeling when she shared an image of them – “magic”.
In the lead up to the launch, the Adelaide couture house’s favourite VIP was treated an exclusive first look.
Paolo Sebastian founder Paul Vasileff made a special visit to his Nonna Domenica, inviting The Advertiser along for an exclusive photo shoot.
Wearing a Paolo Sebastian dress she wore on his wedding day, Nonna Domenica is the inspiration for the new range named in her honour.
Describing Allora Domenica as “one of my most personal endeavours yet”, Vasileff said the 16-piece collection celebrated her turning 95 on March 9.
“Domenica dreamt of being a teacher, and in the end, she was my very first,” he said, adding she taught him to sew when he was just three years old.
“Not only did she encourage me to create, play, and learn, but there was an unspoken language in our family to always pursue our dreams.”
The range includes an off-shoulder drop waist gown with floral embroidery and embellished crystal work, worn by Havana from Finesse Models Australia.
It is an homage to Nonna Domenica’s ceramic flower vase; Vasileff remembers admiring it as a child in her home and she still has it on display today.
Captivated, Nonna Domenica said of Vasileff’s talent and achievements: “You cannot imagine, I don’t have the words to say, how proud I am.”
Allora Domenica was showcased at an invitation only event at Bird in Hand Winery on February 22.
